Call, or use the quote form. The most useful things you can send: a photo of the space, rough length or number of steps, and what style you're picturing. A screenshot from Pinterest or Instagram is fine. We'll get back to you within two business days with a ballpark or a time to come measure.
Site measure
For stairs, rails on stairs, and anything structural, we come out and measure. It takes about an hour on a normal house. We check rise and run, where posts can actually land, what the rail is mounting into, and whether the floor is level. It usually isn't.
Drawing and price
You get a drawing with dimensions, the material, the finish and a price. For commercial jobs we work from the architect's drawings and send shop drawings back for approval. Nothing gets cut until you sign off.
Deposit and scheduling
A deposit locks in your spot and covers material. We'll give you a realistic install window, not a best case.
Build and test-fit
Everything gets built and fit-checked in the shop. On most rail jobs we'll tack it together, check it against our measurements, then finish-weld and grind.
Finish
Powder coat goes out to a local coater and usually adds about a week. Paint and clear coat are done in-house. See materials and finishes for the differences.
Install
Our crew installs. Most residential rail installs are a single day. We clean up our mess and walk it with you before we leave.
How long it takes
From a signed drawing to install day, most interior stair rails and deck rails take three to five weeks. Driveway gates run a little longer, four to six, because the posts go in first and the concrete has to cure. Commercial stairs follow the job schedule.
Repairs are different. Small ones often get done the same week.
What stretches a job: a backlog at the powder coater, special-order stainless or cable hardware, and rain on outdoor installs.
